Project Overview
Rangrez is a typeface developed for the exhibit “Type Okay Please.”Inspired by the hand-painted typography found on Indian trucks, Rangrez is a digital typeface that preserves the distinctive three-dimensional feel of its origins. Designed for 2 scripts - Latin & Devanagri

Type Okay Please Exhibition
Though the typeface is developed for digital spaces, I wanted to bring back the handpainted feel so I decided to display the type in action through a mural. The painted ornaments and background follow a vibrant colour scheme and language, similar to the ones seen on the trucks. Elements such as flourishes, the lotus flower and the “nimbu mirch” are present in this mural as well, to credit the inspiration behind the typeface.

Pehchaan Exhibition
Pehchaan was an exhibit I did as part of the 5X fest Art Party. It was a place for me to showcase this type in the hand-painted form again. This time it was to show myself and my journey from art to design. I included spirals similar to when I was a child, to the typography I developed while I was in university. It was a critique of my self image, and how I think, showcased through scribbles and comments to give the viewer a glimpse how my mind works.

And thats all…
Through the development of a custom typeface and its intricate grids, I gained a deeper appreciation for the balance between tradition and modernity in design. The mural and supporting posters allowed me to experiment with storytelling through large-scale visuals, blending bold colors and dynamic layouts to celebrate the art form's vibrancy. This project taught me the importance of research-driven design and how visual communication can preserve and celebrate cultural narratives in innovative ways.
